Pama International hosts live listening party of upcoming North American release “Pama Outernational”

Date/Time 3pm EST. Sunday April 18th, 2010

Place: www.realpunkradio.com

Pama International will be hosting a live listening party of their upcoming release “Pama Outernational” with Real Punk Radio DJ Gabe Pressure and Sean Flowerdew from Pama Intl.. This event will include a track by track play, interview and listener interaction through the chat room.

The newest release from these dubtastic heavyweights features The Specials’ Lynval Golding and Sir Horace Panter! Further linking the band to the solid as a rock foundation laid by forefathers like Prince Buster and The Specials the album is produced by Sean Flowerdew & John Collins – producer of the iconic “Ghost Town”.

Heavyweight dub sounds rule the way on the brand new album which picks up where 2008’s critically acclaimed ‘Love Filled Dub Band’ album left off, shamelessly holding it’s influences high. King Tubby & Lee Perry’s dub style meet the southern soul sounds of 1960’s Stax, all the time remaining distinctly Pama.

Fronted by Sean Flowerdew, Finny and Lynval Golding (The Specials/Fun Boy 3) the album features a wonderfully diverse array of musical talent, Lenny Bignell (Lord Large), Gary Alesbrook (Kasabian), Fuzz Townshend (Bentley Rhythm Ace/PWEI) & Lynval’s fellow 2 Tone band mate Sir Horace Panter.

Orange Juice in Bishop's Garden Orange Juice in Bishop's Garden, a DC-based web series about teens growing up and getting down in the 90s, is looking for a local ska band to play in one of our Season 3 episodes. Filming begins June 20th and ends July 10th. We would be flexible on a date, within that time period. It would probably only take a few hours of your time - one day of shooting. We can't pay but the episode will give credit to the band on our website and episode credits. We're also a featured Koldcast.tv series, so the episode will be seen via their website too! You can visit our homepage at www.OJinBG.com to check it out.

Ric WinklerRic Winkler, one of our good friends in the DC Ska scene, passed away last Wednesday.  He was a great guy and always a friendly face to see at shows.  I kept running into him at English Beat shows and we became good friends soon after.  He knew lots of people in many different circles, but at the same time would be somewhat incognito.  So even if you don't know his name offhand, you've probably seen him around.  You might have caught him working the bar at Duffy's before heading over to the 9:30 Club; or you might have seen his show listing posts on the DCSka.com calendar.  Ric was awesome and always willing to help me out with DC Ska stuff.  In fact, Ric was vital in helping us get things started with Solly's U Street Tavern for the Bluebeat DC nights.

A fundraiser is being held at Duffy's on January 31st to raise some money for his parents to cover whatever memorial service expenses there are.

Here's the info on the fundraiser.  Hope to see you guys there and we can share stories about the good times with Ric.

Sunday, January 31st
4-8pm
Duffy's Irish Pub (duffysdc.com)
$10 donation at the door
all beers including imports will be $2, rail drinks $3, and wine $2
Duffy's is providing a buffet at no charge which will include: Shepherd's pie, Corned beef & cabbage, sliders, and vegetarian sliders

Please RSVP to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , so they will know how much food to prepare.
A memorial service will be held the day before and here's the info on that:
Saturday, January 30th, 2pm
Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center

Bluebeat DC logoHere's some amazing news to end the year!  Bluebeat DC is the city's new ska/reggae night for your dancin' pleasure.  This monthly night is an offshoot to the long-running Bluebeat Lounge in Los Angeles.  Hosted by Duncan from the Moderators and yours truly, it'll be held on the third Thursday of every month at Solly's U St. Tavern in Northwest, DC.

We're hoping this regular night will provide a place for local and touring ska/reggae bands to play and DJs to spin, since there really hasn't been a great place for it in awhile.

If you're interest in playing check out our Web site and send us a message.
